Simon Weir LRPS

The son of two very keen amateur photographers, I took my first photographs at the age of 4 on a Kodak rangefinder camera. My photography really took off when for my seventh birthday I was given a Zenit SLR and I never looked back!

As a child, family holidays revolved around taking photographs - my Father took slides and my Mother colour prints so, determined to be different, I took Black and White - in hindsight the best grounding a beginner could have. I soon learnt how to develop and print my own work and at the age of 17 I had my first exhibition in Oxford of 20 prints of Tuscany.

I now split my time between photography and working as a classical record producer (my other childhood love was music and I run a well established and successful music production company). As well as ongoing commissions, I am currently working on a book about the Palio horse race in Siena, Italy - a selection of these images was published in the international Nikon Owner Magazine and forms the basis of a 25 minute audio-visual presentation about the Palio.

With Nikon FX, DX, Film & InfraRed SLRs, and lenses ranging from 10.5mm to 450mm, a hi-resolution film/print scanner, an A3 pigment ink printer, and considerable experience with Photoshop, Lightroom and InDesign, I am equipped for most eventualities and happy to tackle any subject.
